We are TOOFAR, a grassroots, all volunteer, 501(C)3 Non Profit organization devoted to preserving the pristine waterways of Citrus County for our children and their children.

We have been approved for a grant of $4 million from the State of Florida to restore a portion of Point Lonesome Lake which is part of the Tsala Apopka chain of lakes. Hopefully, other lakes to follow.

Lake Restoration will soon be a work in progress.  The mission of Lake Restoration is to return our lakes to the pristine beauty that they were years ago.  

Due to high levels of phosphates and nitrates in the water in more recent years, underwater plant growth has flourished.  This plant growth, death, and regrowth has built up substantial layers of dead plant material and floating tussocks on the top.  This project will have DEP oversight and will utilize water specialists and their equipment in the effort to clean up the lakes.

We invite you to attend one of our meetings held the 4th Thursday of the month (3rd Thursday in November and December) at our facility at 9228 East Gospel Island Road in Inverness.

We start the evening at 6:00 pm with an optional casual dinner which is available for a specified donation.  The meeting starts at 6:30 pm.  You will hear interesting speakers talking about our waterways, wildlife and their habitat.
